Part - II On Pidgins,Pidginization,Creolization and Simplication

Part – II consists of eight papers.  They deal different aspects of pidgins, pidginization creolization and simplification.  Some papers deal about theoretical aspects of pidgins discussing about the nature and functions of the pidgins, Issues relating to the pidginization, creolization and simplification.  Other papers discuss on different hybrid languages such as Bazaar Hindi, Butler English, Halbi and one paper deals on acquisition of language of a child in a situation where child was exposed to three different languages belonging to three different language families.  One paper deals on the subject that Malayalam as a South Indian creole.

            Papers on Butler English, and child's acquisition of a language, Bazaar Hindi and Halbi contain lot of data and authors have analyzed these data and made statements on the issues.  In a theoretical discussion on pidgins one paper gives the characteristics of a pidgin such as (1) Deficient in Structure (2) Defective in code (3) Parastatic in form and function (4) Unnatural in Lingistic status (5) Less evolved.

            Another paper defines the language death as a process of reduction affecting three aspects of a language viz.,

a)  The size of the speaker community.

b)  The number of functions discharged by the Language

c)   Actual structure.
