of Alphabet for an Unwritten Langauge
The considerations for the choice of a script from which the alphabet for an Unwritten
language is drawn are largely social and educational. So are the Modifications
necessary on the script to suit the phonemic inventary of the unwritten
language.
These considerations recommend the use of the script of the official language
of the state in which the unwritten language spoken. The principles of modification
of this script and the relevance of writing of the unwritten language are discussed.
The need for experimental research to answer certain questions of choice
from among the competing solutions is also pointed out.(The paper was also submitted
